I am a 28-year-old single guy living in Mebane, NC. I work full-time for VCE as an Escalation Engineer in the Customer Care organization. I recently obtained by EMCIE certification for VNX implementation, and prior to that my CCNP Data Center certification.

From March 2011 to June 2013 I worked for Varrow as an Enterprise Engineer, primarily doing system implementations of Cisco, EMC, and VMware technologies.

I went to school at the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida and graduated on May 5, 2007 with a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering. I also took some graduate level classes at Florida Tech for Computer Information Systems.

I've been volunteering since August 2009 for Conservators' Center (CCI), a non-profit wildlife facility in Caswell County. Most weekends you will find me there. I have two pet cats, named Saphira and Lazula. They are hybrid F7 SBT bengals of Marechal Cattery.

History:

I have lived in various places over the course of my lifetime, beginning in a small town called Horseheads, NY, which is very close to Corning, NY. My father has been an employee of Corning for a long time, so my parents have always lived near a Corning production plant. In 1995 we moved from Horseheads to Wilmington, NC, where I attended Winter Park elementary school, Roland-Grise middle school, and John T. Hoggard high school. When I was a sophomore in high school I applied to a public residential school called the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics and was admitted for my junior and senior years. I graduated from NCSSM on June 1st of 2003 and began my college tour of duty on August 17th of 2003.

In the summer of 2004 my father took yet another job transfer to the Corning plant in Blacksburg, Virginia, so I lived there for one summer in an apartment. I then resided in Palm Bay, Florida, about 7 miles from Florida Tech. My sister and parents moved into a new house in Christiansburg, Virginia. After finishing my undergrad program, I moved into an apartment at The Berkshires of West Melbourne, where I stayed for 2 years.

In May of 2009 I moved out of my apartment after finding out that Harris Stratex would be relocating a group of us to the Research Triangle Park area of NC. I stayed with a friend up in Rockledge temporarily until the end of July, when I packed my belongings and moved to a rental house in north Raleigh. The company headquarters was in Morrisville, NC, but the facility was later closed.

In August of 2011 I moved to a rental house in Mebane, NC. I was working for Varrow at the time, and doing quite a bit of traveling to the Triad area so moving to a more central location in NC was logical.

I have had several jobs over the years, starting with a self-employed lawn care business I ran in Wilmington with about 6 customers. During the spring of 2001 I worked as a Computer Repair Technician for Hoggard high school doing routine maintainance, Ghost imaging, network configurations, software updates, virus repairs, etc. In the summer of 2002 I worked at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center as part of a volunteer requirement for NCSSM; while I was there I helped move wheelchair patients, deliver flowers and mail, and worked on an independent project to assemble digital copies of MSDSs. After graduating from high school I worked for a Subway restaurant about 3 miles away from my home, which lasted until I began college. After my freshman year I again worked for Subway, but took on another part-time job at the Hollywood East Cinema Grill in Wilmington. When we left Wilmington for Blacksburg, I found a job with Adecco as a temporary industrial contractor for Corning, Inc. Back in Melbourne for fall of 2004 I got a job in the home theater department at Best Buy.

For the summer of 2005 I had a local internship with Harris Corporation, working as a system administrator for Sun Solaris and Wintel machines. They offered a part-time job for the 2005-2006 school year and I accepted, choosing to leave Best Buy to keep my weekends free for homework and projects. I do miss the employee discount. In the summer of 2006 I had another full-time internship with Harris and also stayed on part time during the school year. In January of 2007, the Microwave Communications Division of Harris split off in a merger with Stratex Networks to become Harris Stratex Networks. Although the name changed, I still worked at the same physical location and with the same people as before. Two years later, Harris Stratex shut down the Melbourne office, converting some employees to telecommuting roles and relocating others to NC. On January 28th 2010 the company changed its name to Aviat Networks. I worked for Aviat Networks up until March 18, 2011 when I voluntarily resigned and went to work for Varrow.
